The Anambra State Governor’s Special Adviser on Youth Reformation, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, has reiterated the need for practical opportunities, mentorship and sustained engagement in addressing youth challenges and preparing young people for productive lives.

Omenugha stated this after receiving various youth groups and individuals on Sunday, October 18, as part of efforts to advance the youth reformation agenda of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

Among those he received were coordinators of Youths Earnestly Seek (Soludo) Solution (YESS Anambra), a youth organisation he convenes, with whom he reviewed the group’s progress, exchanged ideas and discussed ways to strengthen its commitment to addressing challenges facing young people in the state.

He also met with the team behind the iDICE Skills to Job South-East Programme, which presented opportunities aimed at equipping young people with relevant skills and connecting them to employment.

The engagement, according to Omenugha, forms part of the broader effort to ensure that young people have access to practical skills and pathways to employment, rather than being left without the opportunities needed to become economically productive.

The governor’s aide also received his academic mentees, who shared their experiences from their Industrial Training placements as they prepared to return to school.

Their visit, he noted, highlighted the importance of mentorship and practical learning in helping young people acquire experience beyond the classroom and prepare for their future careers.

In another engagement, Omenugha received an award plaque earlier presented to him by St. Kelvin Parish, Nnobi, and the Ihiala Region of the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) during their respective programmes.

He expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to continue contributing to youth development and reformation in the state.

Omenugha said the different engagements reinforced his belief that meaningful youth reformation depends on collaboration, practical opportunities, mentorship and continuous interaction with young people.

He added that the activities aligned with the vision of Governor Soludo to build a generation of responsible, skilled and productive young people capable of contributing to the development of Anambra State.

The Special Adviser reaffirmed the need for sustained collaboration among youth organisations, skills development initiatives, mentors and other stakeholders to help young people overcome challenges and take advantage of opportunities available to them.
