Barely two weeks after the Anambra State Police Command intensified investigations into the suspected murder of a 23-year-old nursing student found dead in her residence at Alor, leaders and stakeholders of the community have thrown their weight behind the ongoing probe, pledging full cooperation with security agencies to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
It would be recalled that ONYOKOMITA RECENTLY REPORTED how the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident, transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, and approved the detention and interrogation of the landlord of the premises as part of efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the student’s death, which repeatedly occured on June 14.

In a fresh development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed in a statement issued to newsmen that the Command received a delegation of stakeholders from Alor Community over the ongoing investigation.
According to the statement, the delegation was led by the President-General of Alor, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, and included several Red Cap Chiefs, who visited the Command to identify with the investigation and demonstrate the community’s commitment to ensuring that justice is served.
SP Ikenga said the stakeholders used the opportunity to provide investigators with useful information that could assist the ongoing investigation, while reaffirming their resolve to cooperate fully with the Police in uncovering the circumstances surrounding the death of the young student.
During the meeting, Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu assured the delegation that the Command remained fully committed to conducting a painstaking, professional and impartial investigation into the case.
The Police Commissioner reiterated that no individual found to have played any role in the incident would be spared, assuring that all those culpable would face the full weight of the law.
CP Orutugu also appealed to members of the public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information capable of jeopardising investigations, and instead volunteer any credible information that could assist detectives in resolving the case.
Speaking during the visit, the President-General of Alor, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, commended the Police for what he described as their prompt response and professionalism since the incident was reported.
He expressed confidence in the ongoing investigation and assured the Police of the community’s continued support until the circumstances surrounding the student’s death are fully uncovered and justice delivered.
The Police Command, through its spokesman, further reassured the bereaved family, the people of Alor and the general public that investigations were progressing, while maintaining that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring justice for the deceased.
