Robbers Arrested at 2nd Niger Bridge Bag 13 Years Imprisonment

The two robbers recently arrested by the patrol team of the Anambra State Police Command at the 2nd Niger Bridge have been sentenced to thirteen years imprisonment for their actions.

Recall that the Command had recently announced the arrest of two robbers terrorizing passers-by and users of 2nd Niger Bridge. The suspects were said to have been arrested with two daggers and five sim cards removed from phones of their victims.

The Spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, in a statement issued to newsmen on Sunday, said the Police Command secured conviction of the two robbers, while also noting the suspects pleaded guilty when arraigned in court.

He said: “In compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, detectives worked on the sim cards and traced two of the victims one of whom is a lawyer.

“Victims cooperated with investigation, and evidence gathered was presented before the court.

“Both accused persons were sentenced to 5 years jail term each on each of the first two counts and 3 years imprisonment for the third count.

“The sentences which are without option of fine are to run concurrently.

“The convicts have been remanded to Onitsha Correctional Centre to serve their jail terms.

“The Commissioner of Police has advised youths to learn lesson from this conviction and shun crime in order not to jeopardize their future.”
