Police in Anambra State have swung into action to hunt down the murderers of Mr. Joseph Ezenwegbu, the Ward 1 Chairman of the Young People’s Party (YPP) in Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area of the State.
Recall that Mr. Ezenwegbu (popularly known as Joe Mohale) was shot by masked men on Saturday evening, a few minutes after he organised a meeting between the party faithfuls in Nanka and Hon. Princess Chinwe Nnabuife, the Member representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency.
Reacting to the incident, the Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye, who condemned the barbaric act, said the Command had already swung into action, in hunt for the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
According to a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Commissioner condemned the killing in strongest possible terms, describing the killers as cowards who have murdered sleep.
He said: “The Commissioner who condemned the killing in strongest possible terms described the killers as cowards who have murdered sleep.
“They might think they have committed a perfect crime and that they would get away with it but they delude themselves.
“The Police is already working on vital clues to unmask the perpetrators.
“The Command wishes to re-assure all law abiding citizens especially in Nanka not to be afraid but to join hands with the Police in bringing the murderers and their sponsor to justice.”
