The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, identified simply as Maduka, suspected to be dealing in vandalized electrical equipment and infrastructure materials.

The arrest was made by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, following credible intelligence. The suspect was apprehended at Fegge, Onitsha, on June 14, 2025, at about 4:15 p.m., while in possession of several bags containing vandalized copper wires, high-tension wires, copper coils, and various transformer components.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement issued on Sunday, the suspect is currently assisting the police with further investigation, having confessed to regularly transporting and selling the vandalized materials in Ogun and Lagos States.

SP Ikenga noted that the case represents the Command’s sustained efforts to clamp down on infrastructure vandals and criminal syndicates sabotaging public utilities and threatening public safety.

He assured the public that further developments would be communicated as investigations progress, even as the Command intensifies efforts to arrest other members of the syndicate.
