A young boy identified as Uche Okenna, reportedly kidnapped by a yet-to-be-identified lady in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been rescued around Capital City Secondary School in Awka, following the intervention of some roadside female shop owners and some students.

The incident, which has gone viral on social media, reportedly occurred after the lady allegedly took the boy from the Eke Nibo area and was making her way with him through Awka.

According to narratives accompanying video of the rescued child, which is currently trending online, some female shop owners and passersby around Capital City Secondary School became suspicious of the lady’s conduct and the manner in which she was relating with the boy as they were moving.

This , it was gathered, made then to approach her and question her about the child, a scenario that reportedly attracted the attention of some students of the school who were passing through the area, leading to further attention being focused on the pair.

According to reports, during the interrogation, the lady surprisingly started behaving erratically, like a mentally-challenged person, when she sensed danger. This reportedly got to the point that she started removing her clothes in public and picking up refuse, in what seemed like a deliberate attempt to divert attention.

She reportedly escaped from the scene as attention shifted towards the child, leaving those who intervened unable to apprehend her.

This was corroborated by the video currently trending on social media, showing the rescued boy being questioned by people at the scene as they tried to establish his identity and locate his family.

In the video, the boy reportedly identified his mother as Mrs Uju Okenna and said he was a Primary Three pupil of Central Primary School, Nibo. He also reportedly gave Umuka Hall, Nibo, as the location of his home.

The information prompted those around him to raise a public alert and share the video, calling on anyone who knows the child or his family to come forward at the Capital City Secondary School and help reunite him with his relatives.
