The frontline Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) aspirant for the Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency seat, Amb. Ikebunwa Lotanna, has successfully completed the party’s screening exercise held in Abuja, expressing confidence in the credibility of the process and optimism about the outcome.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the exercise, Amb. Lotanna described the screening process as organized, and professionally conducted, commending the leadership of the party for maintaining order and fairness despite the large number of aspirants participating across the country.
According to him, the increasing number of aspirants seeking elective offices under the platform of the NDC is a reflection of the growing popularity, acceptance, and credibility of the party among Nigerians yearning for purposeful leadership and national transformation.

“The process was excellent and very well coordinated. I want to sincerely commend the leadership of the party for the maturity, decorum, and professionalism they have displayed throughout this exercise,” he stated.
The aspirant, widely regarded as one of the leading contenders for the federal constituency seat, assured his supporters that he remains hopeful and fully committed to the aspirations of the people, noting that he is prepared for whatever democratic process the party adopts in selecting its candidates.
“I encourage my supporters to remain resolute, peaceful, and hopeful. I strongly believe that whatever decision the party eventually takes will be in the overall interest of the people and favourable to our collective aspiration,” he added.

Amb. Lotanna further declared his readiness to participate in party primaries should the leadership of the NDC decide to adopt that route, emphasizing his confidence in the democratic structures and internal processes of the party.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the vision and leadership of Peter Obi, the aspirant described the former presidential candidate as a symbol of hope and transformational leadership for millions of Nigerians.
He stated that he and his supporters remain deeply rooted at the grassroots and are fully prepared to mobilize massively for the success of the party and its presidential project in the forthcoming general elections.
“We are on ground at the grassroots and ready to deliver like never before. I firmly believe that Peter Obi possesses the competence, vision, and leadership qualities needed to build the New Nigeria that Nigerians desire and deserve,” he said.
He also called on Nigerians across political, religious, and ethnic divides to align with the NDC, describing the party as a credible platform capable of rescuing the country from its current socio-economic and political challenges.

He concluded by stating that having successfully completed the screening process, he is now awaiting the outcome of the exercise and the official decision of the party regarding the next line of action.
Political observers believe the successful completion of the screening exercise marks another important step in the build-up to what is expected to be a highly competitive contest for the Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
