In a major security breakthrough, the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has dislodged a suspected Eastern Security Network (ESN) and Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) militia camp in Aguluezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the joint operation, which took place in the early hours of 2nd September 2025, was led by the Police and supported by troops of the 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support), 14 Field Engineer Regiment, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Anambra State Vigilante (Agunechemba).
The coordinated exercise, which lasted for over five hours, saw the militia members dislodged and their camp completely destroyed. While several of the suspects escaped with varying degrees of gunshot wounds, security forces recovered a white Lexus 470 SUV and several Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from the site.
SP Ikenga noted that the entire area has since been stabilized, with security personnel maintaining surveillance to guarantee the safety and peace of residents. He further confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Reassuring the public, the Police Command reiterated its dedication to the fight against criminality and pledged to sustain measures aimed at restoring and preserving peace across Anambra State.
