Happening Now: Fire Engulfs Bank Lane Near Ekwulobia Flyover (Video)

A raging fire outbreak has engulfed the popular Bank Lane in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The fire, which is still currently raging in the popular plaza closely located to the yet-to-be-commissioned Ekwulọbịa Flyover has reportedly destroyed some shops and goods, while traders, residents and passersby watch helplessly.

This was corroborated by a video from the scene of the fire outbreak, currently trending on social media showing the fire razing a foam shop, as traders appealed for urgent intervention to control the fire.

Some of the traders were also seen trying to quench the outbreak with buckets of water, which was infinitesimal and insignificant vis-a-vis the volume of the fire.

The self-help attempts and efforts continued until they finally surrendered their buckets and continued calling out for help from the Anambra State Fire Service and other relevant authorities, having seen that the fire had gone past their ability.

Although, the source of the fire could not be ascertained as at the time of this publication, no official statement had yet been received regarding the fire and the fate of the shop owners and their wares.

Recall that expectations had been high that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has included a brand-new fire station as part of the massive Ekwulobia Urban Regeneration and Interchange Project, a structural development bundled alongside the construction of the Ekwulobia Flyover, an ultra-modern bus terminal and a major shopping mall.

Although, major parts of some of these projects were said to have been completed by the Governor, the public wait for their commissioning has been delayed synonymously like that of the second coming of Jesus Christ.
