The newly sworn-in Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, today, May 18, 2026, officially resumed duties at the Ministry of Information and Value Reformation, Awka, shortly after taking the oath of office administered by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Dr. Mefor, who was reappointed by Governor Soludo, was received warmly on arrival by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Obiageli Uchebo, and some staff of the ministry with songs and unscripted welcome messages on cardboard sheets from the entrance of the Commissioner’s Office to the main office.
The inscriptions included: _“Glad To Have You Back Ichie Okaka Anueyiagu n’Abatete; Nnọ Papa Anyị; Welcome Aboard Hon. Commissioner, Leadership For Progress And Excellence; A New Dawn Of Service, Vision And Development, Welcome Mr Commissioner.”_
Expressing appreciation, Dr. Mefor thanked Mrs. Uchebo and the ministry staff for the warm reception and for taking the time to prepare the messages. He thanked them for keeping the Ministry of Information with innovations and more.
He explained that he could not report earlier because, immediately after the swearing-in, he and other newly sworn-in officials attended a party meeting with Governor Soludo.
He urged staff to redouble their efforts to enable the ministry meet the expectations of both government and Ndi Anambra.
“The work ahead is clear. We must communicate faster, clearer, and more truthfully so that our people are informed and carried along,” he said.
The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Obiageli Uchebo, commended the Commissioner for his track record in strategic communication and information management, noting that his reappointment was a testament to his good works.
She assured him of the staff’s commitment to supporting the ministry’s mandate.
Dr. Mefor will tomorrow, Tuesday, May 19, 2026, hold a meeting with all staff of the ministry for briefing on Mr Governor’s expectations and to chart the way forward, especially now that the Ministry of Information has added mandate namely, Value Reformation.
