By Ijeoma John, Nnewi

Frontline House of Representatives aspirant for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Amb. Ikebunwa Lotanna, has officially obtained his Expression of Interest Form under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development, which he described as a defining moment in his journey of service to the people of the constituency, formally signals his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing the federal constituency at the National Assembly.

Speaking shortly after picking the form, Amb. Ikebunwa expressed profound gratitude to God and appreciated the overwhelming encouragement and support he has continued to receive from youths, women, stakeholders, community leaders, and supporters across the constituency.

According to him, his decision to officially join the race goes beyond personal ambition, stressing that it is a response to what he described as the growing call by the people for purposeful, accessible and effective representation.

He also linked his aspiration to the broader vision of supporting his political principal and the leadership direction of the NDC in what he described as the quest to reposition and rebuild Nigeria for future generations.

The aspirant noted that over time, he had engaged extensively with people across Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo, listening to their concerns, expectations and aspirations.

According to him, many youths across the constituency continue to yearn for meaningful opportunities and empowerment, while women and small business owners seek stronger economic support systems and practical interventions capable of improving their livelihoods.

He added that his interactions with traders, professionals, entrepreneurs and community stakeholders further strengthened his conviction that the constituency deserves a new style of leadership driven by accountability, accessibility, compassion, innovation and visible impact.

Amb. Ikebunwa emphasized that representation should not merely be about occupying a seat in Abuja, but about remaining connected to the grassroots and translating federal opportunities into practical benefits for the people.

Speaking further on his vision, he said his aspiration is anchored on service and focused on addressing youth unemployment through strategic empowerment programmes, supporting women through targeted economic initiatives, improving opportunities for small businesses, facilitating critical infrastructure projects, promoting educational advancement, and initiating constituency-wide intervention programmes capable of delivering measurable development.

He reassured constituents that his leadership style would remain open, inclusive and people-oriented, while pledging to maintain close contact with the grassroots if elected.

According to him, he is not seeking political office for prestige or titles, but because of his belief that the constituency can experience a new era of responsive and transformational representation.

The aspirant also expressed appreciation for what he described as the growing support and confidence being reposed in him by people across the three local government areas making up the constituency.

He maintained that he possesses the vision, grassroots connection, passion and practical development blueprint needed to provide effective representation for the people.

While calling for continued prayers, support and partnership from constituents, Amb. Ikebunwa urged the people of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo to see the movement as a collective opportunity to redefine leadership and enthrone representation that truly works for the people.

He further expressed optimism that with God’s grace and the support of the people, the constituency would witness a new phase of accessible, people-driven and impactful representation in the years ahead
