Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has announced the appointment of Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie as the institution’s new substantive Vice-Chancellor, marking a new phase in the university’s leadership and administration.

According to a statement issued by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Njelita Louis, the appointment was approved by the University’s Governing Council on November 16, 2025, with effect from November 18, 2025.

Prof. Anyaehie, it was gathered, will serve a single, non-renewable tenure of five years as provided by the institution’s governing statutes.

A distinguished scholar, Professor Anyaehie is widely recognized for his contributions to the fields of Physiology and Clinical Measurements. His academic depth, administrative experience, and professional pedigree have earned him respect across the Nigerian academic community.

He takes over from Professor (Dame) Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, who has been acting in the capacity of Vice-Chancellor and steering the institution pending the appointment of a substantive head.

The University community expressed optimism that the new Vice-Chancellor’s emergence will help consolidate ongoing reforms and drive new strides in teaching, research, innovation, and institutional development.
