Stakeholders of Nnobi community in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, have praised exceptional efforts made by an illustrious son of the town, High Chief Hamilton Ezeonu, in ensuring that the community is developed, and its people happy.
The commendation was made on Thursday, September 17, after a meeting of stakeholders of the town with Gov. Charles Soludo, at the Light House in Awka.
The meeting, organized to discuss issues concerning widening of Afor Nnobi roundabout and subsequent demolition of people’s property, was attended by the traditional ruler of Nnobi, Igwe Nick Obi; President General, Chief Alloy Olubialu; Mayor-elect for Idemili South LGA, Hon. Oluchukwu Ilogbenu; as well as High Chief Hamilton Ezeonu, through whose efforts the meeting with the governor was arranged.
Speaking after the meeting, President General of Nnobi, Chief Sir Alloy Olubialu (Nwachinemelu), thanked High Chief Ezeonu for initiating the meeting and bringing stakeholders of the community to a parley with the governor.
“We’re proud that we have a son and stakeholder like High Chief Ezeonu among us. God will continue to bless him for us. He is the person that make this fruitful meeting possible. He personally called the governor and planned the meeting, and we’re happy that the meeting is successful and fruitful.
“Apart from this, High Chief Ezeonu has been instrumental to so many developmental initiatives and human capital developments in our town. Without him, this meeting with the governor that helped resolve a lot of issues wouldn’t have been held. So, we’re grateful for his numerous contributions.
“Also very important to mention is the fact that High Chief Ezeonu has broken the communication gap between Nnobi people and the state government. Before now, there has not been any channel of communication between our town and the state. Individuals who think they know it all will wake up and go into any office in Awka and start speaking about Nnobi because they know the persons in those offices.
“Today, everything is streamlined. High Chief Ezeonu has told the state government and its officials that the only channel of communication between Nnobi and the government is through the town union led by the President General, and they have accepted it. So, our brother, High Chief Ezeonu, has done a lot for us,” he said.
Also speaking, the Mayor-elect for Idemili South LGA, Hon. Oluchukwu Ilogbenu, thanked High Chief Ezeonu for the special love he has for Nnobi that made him coordinate such special meeting of Mr. Governor with leaders and stakeholders of Nnobi.
“It was our brother and major stakeholder, High Chief Hamilton Ezeonu (Ikemba Idemili) that called the attention of Mr. Governor on the predicament of our people, and the governor graciously invited us for a heart to heart talk. So, we remain indebted to High Chief Ezeonu,” he said.
