A popular factory in Nnewi, Anambra State, was on Wednesday morning engulfed by a raging fire that caused serious damage to property, prompting an emergency intervention by the Anambra State Fire Service.
The incident occurred at Ngobros Factory, located at No. 11 Obidiah Road, near Chartered Junction, Abubor Nnewi-Ichi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state.
According to a press statement issued by the Media and Publicity Unit of the Anambra State Fire Service, and made available to this reporter, the distress call regarding the outbreak was received at exactly 6:10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Following the alert, firefighters were immediately mobilized and deployed to the scene with fully equipped firefighting trucks to confront the inferno.
On arrival at the factory premises, the firefighters were met with an active and aggressive fire already consuming parts of the facility. Through rapid response and professional firefighting operations, the gallant officers swiftly engaged the blaze in a coordinated effort aimed at stopping its spread to adjoining structures and minimizing further destruction within the industrial area.
This reporter, Izunna Okafor, gathered that the fire was still being brought under control as of the time of filing this report, with firefighters still on ground to ensure complete extinguishment, proper cooling of affected areas, and the prevention of any possible re-ignition that could trigger another outbreak.
The Agency noted that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, adding that investigations would commence in due course to ascertain both the origin of the inferno and the extent of damage incurred during the incident.
The Anambra State Fire Service reassured residents and business operators in the area of its continued commitment to prompt emergency response and public safety, while also encouraging facility owners and industrial operators to observe strict fire safety measures in order to prevent similar occurrences.
Sources have it that a gas plant is located within the scene, which added to the strength and destructive nature of the fire.
