In furtherance to the move to strengthen the bond and relationship between residents of Anambra State and the recently launched Agụnechemba Security Outfit (popularly known as Operation Udo Ga-Achị), veteran Anambra journalist, Comrade Nweke Nweke has been appointed as the new spokesperson for the grassroots security outfit.
Nweke’s appointment was officially announced on Tuesday at the Old Government House in Awka, the state capital, where he was also formally presented to Chief Kenneth Emekai, the Special Adviser on Community Security to Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Comrade Nweke, a seasoned media practitioner and former Public Relations Officer of the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG), was presented by Chief Chinenye Iheknor, who oversees Agụnechemba’s operations. During the presentation, Chief Iheknor tasked him with transparency, dedication, and effective communication in his new role. He also presented to him the enabling legislation enacted by the Anambra State House of Assembly that formally established the security outfit, emphasizing that the responsibility now lies with him to accurately convey the activities and vision of the group to the public through the media.
Popularly known as “Ọkpọmpi,” Chief Iheknor expressed optimism that the new spokesperson would bring a wealth of experience and professionalism to the role, noting that his previous service in the AVG was commendable. He encouraged him to build upon the existing trust and cooperation between the Agụnechemba team and the citizens of Anambra.
Also speaking during the presentation, Governor Soludo’s Special Adviser on Community Security, Chief Emekai, highlighted the critical role of effective public communication in community policing and charged the new spokesperson to live up to expectations and maintain the high standards already associated with his name.
Responding, Comrade Nweke Nweke expressed his gratitude to the state government and the leadership of Agụnechemba for the trust reposed in him. He described the appointment as a call to higher service and pledged to discharge his duties with utmost diligence, integrity, and professionalism.
He further used the occasion to appeal to members of the press and the public to collaborate with his office and channel all inquiries concerning the activities and personnel of Agụnechemba security outfit through the appropriate communication channels. He emphasized the importance of synergy among security stakeholders and the media in the ongoing fight against crime and criminality across the state.
