A traditional marriage ceremony that would have taken place on August 2nd has been cancelled just few days to the date, following a shocking discovery by the groom that his bride-to-be, one was in an “active sexual relationship” with her reverend father.
The cancellation, which was announced over the weekend by the groom, Mr. Chibuike Nwandu, was also posted on his social media platform, and has continued to trend on different media platforms.
According to him, the sexual relationship between the bride-to-be and her reverend father was still active, even after introduction as part of the traditional marriage rites.
“It should have taken place on the 2nd of August 2025 but is now been cancelled because I discovered that she was still in an active sexual relationship with her rev father, even after the introduction, I have her confession on tape,” he wrote.
Nwandu, who hails from Osumenyi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of the State, also shared some pictures of the printed copies of his invitation cards, with bold a bold inscription “cancelled”.
Prior to its cancellation, the traditional marriage, it was gathered, was to take place at the bride-to-be’s compound at Ebe Village in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of the State.
Although, the groom did not reveal the identity of the said priest in the post, subsequent posts on the incident indicate that the cleric works and worships at one of the Catholic churches in the hometown of the bride-to-be, Ukpor.
Photos of a suspected priest also recently began to trend on social media, with netizens calling him out, condemning his act as sacrilegious, and calling on higher church authorities to investigate, defrock and laicize him if found culpable.
When this reporter, Izunna Okafor, contacted the groom to seek confirmation and further details on the marriage cancelation, he simply said he posted the information to let his proposed guests know that the event had been called off, and not for news publication.
While Chibuike, in recent post, heaved a sigh of relief that he had been able to sleep for 7 hours for the first time in two weeks; he also raised an alarm that “they” don’t want him to post the “confession”, but however insisted that the “main confession” would come on August 2, being the proposed date for the wedding. He further expressed “sorry” for people who are still going to church.
