Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has reassured his administration’s commitment to making lives better and comfortable for the people of Ihiala Community, while also reaffirming his love for them.
The Governor disclosed this while addressing the mammoth crowd at the Holy Ghost Juniorate, Ihiala, during the Ihiala Local Government Mega Rally, where he sought their massive support in the November 8 gubernatorial election in the state, while also promising to buy them bread when coming next time.
Governor Soludo went memory lane to recount the giant strides and transformative efforts of his administration in Ihiala, especially the restoration of security in the area after barely one year of desolation due to the activities of hoodlums (popularly known as “Unknown Gunmen”) who initially took over and held the entire area and some other parts of Anambra South to ransom before his administration’s intervention.
Corroborating the testimonies earlier given at the event by some speakers from the area, the Governor recounted that he himself could not go to Ihiala to campaign in 2021 due to the activities of the gunmen that sent the residents to exile and shrunk activities in the area. He, however, attested that peace have returned to the area as the fled people are now returning back in joy while school, religious, social, trading and other activities are now beginning to resume and boom again in the once-desolate Ihiala.
He held some of the hitherto gunmen who heeded to his amnesty by repenting and coming out from the various bushes and camps where they were operating from in the past; even as he further reiterated his call on other gunmen and hoodlums who are yet to do so to do so for their own good and for the betterment of the society; pledging his administration’s support.
While assuring to sustain and improve the momentum of the transformation going on in the area, Governor Soludo, who also highlighted some ongoing and yet-to-be-launched projects in different parts of the community, further attested that, while coming, he bought some breads from petty traders at Nkwọ Ogbe, one of the formerly-closed markets that have now re-opened.
The Governor, while berating other co-contestants in the forthcoming election, said they’re poor and are merely looking for recognition or appointment.
He, however, re-echoed his call on the people to reciprocate his love for them by massively voting for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the November 8 election, while also promising to buy them bread when coming to visit them next time.
The bread, he assured the people, will be given to their leaders who will distribute and make sure it gets to everyone.
