In furtherance of the ongoing fight against crime in Anambra State, the Anambra Vigilante Security Operatives, popularly known as Agụnaechemba and Udo Ga-Achị, have apprehended a notorious native doctor allegedly responsible for preparing charms and fortifications for kidnappers and armed robbers operating within the state.
The latest success, which further reinforces the renewed security vigilance across Anambra under the present administration, comes barely days after the same team dismantled major criminal camps in Achalla, Awka North Local Government Area, recovering deadly weapons and arresting notorious gunmen and gang members, including those linked to the murder of Dr. Chike Akunyili and the kidnapping of Akwa Ọkụkọ few years ago.
According to reliable sources, the latest operation, which was carried out during the week, led to the arrest of 3 suspects, after a fierce confrontation between the operatives and the criminal gang. It was gathered that about five suspects were initially identified and tracked, but some of them escaped during the encounter.
Among those apprehended were the native doctor, popularly known as Eze Dibia from Oraukwu in Idemili North Local Government Area who allegedly specializes in preparing charms and protective rituals for the gang; the gang leader, identified as Oluchukwu from Ebonyi State; and another member of the syndicate, popularly known as Ten-Ten from Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Several locally made firearms, live ammunition, and other incriminating exhibits were also recovered from the suspects at the scene. Although, the specific location of the operation has not been officially disclosed, sources have it that it took place in one of the gang’s notorious hideouts.
A video currently trending on social media shows the arrested suspects being paraded alongside the recovered weapons, while the native doctor who is believed to have fortified the gang members spiritually was also captured confessing to his craft and nickname as Eze Dibịa.
The voiceover accompanying the video lauded the Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration in the state and the leadership of Udo Ga-Achị and Agụnechemba, Mr. Ken Emeakayi and Mr. Chikaodiri Anara (Ọkpọmpi) for their support, while also reassuring the operatives’ commitment to thoroughly sanitizing and completely ridding Anambra of criminal elements and activities of hoodlums in any part of the state.
