Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation commemorated World Environment Day 2026 by bringing together Cakasa Road Safety Clubs from six primary schools in the Mushin area of Lagos State, uniting 150 pupils in a tree-planting initiative and environmental awareness programme under this year’s global theme: Climate Action.
The event convened at New City Primary School, Mushin, where pupils gathered to discuss the environment, climate change, and their collective responsibility to protect the planet. Participating schools included New City Primary School, Palm Avenue Primary School, Oduduwa Primary School, Papa Ajao Primary School, Estate Primary School, and Alaba Primary School 一each represented by 25pupils.
A total of 36 trees were planted across the six schools, with six trees designated to each school, serving as a lasting symbol of the pupils’ commitment to a greener future.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Helen Egbe, Executive Director of Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation, challenged the young Road Safety Clubs members to extend their leadership beyond road safety to environmental stewardship.
“As members of the Cakasa Road Safety Clubs, we are leaders and role models in our schools and communities. Just as we promote safety on our roads, we must also promote care for our environment,” she said.

“The trees we plant today will provide shade, cleaner air, and a healthier environment for future generations. They are a symbol of hope and our commitment to a greener future,” she added.
Mrs. Egbe noted that the effects of environmental neglect — rising temperatures, flooding, pollution, and the loss of green spaces — were already visible in communities, and called on the pupils to take action through everyday practices, such as planting trees, maintaining clean surroundings, disposing of waste responsibly, and inspiring others around them.
“Protecting the environment is not a one-day event but a daily responsibility,” she affirmed, adding that “Together, we can create a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable world.”
The initiative reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to youth-led environmental action, using the reach of Cakasa Road Safety Clubs in schools to foster a generation of responsible environmental citizens.
