The Anambra State Police Command has expressed strong optimism and readiness ahead of the forthcoming 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) scheduled to commence on February 14, 2026 (Valentine’s Day) in Asaba, Delta State.
The optimism stems from the readiness of the officers of the Command and the motivation by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, to compete for and bring back multiple laurels at the national sporting event.
According to statement issued on Wednesday, by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the 2026 All Police Games, themed “Beyond the Badge: Excellence in Action,” will bring together police officers from various State Commands and formations across the country to promote physical fitness, teamwork, unity, and mental alertness beyond routine policing duties.

SP Ikenga disclosed that the CP motivated the officers while addressing them on Tuesday at the Police Headquarters, Awka, ahead of the competition, and during which he also assured them of the Command’s full support.
The statement reads:
“The Anambra State Police Command has expressed high optimism and readiness ahead of the forthcoming 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) with the theme “Beyond the Badge: Excellence in Action” scheduled to take place from 14th February 2026 in Asaba, Delta State. This is even as officers of the Command are determined to represent the State and compete for laurels with great zeal.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD represented by the Command Management Team, today 4th February 2026 at the Police Headquaters Awka, hosted the respective strategic officers of the Command as well as selected officers that will participate in the games. He commended their steadfastness, discipline, and commitment, describing their dedication and optimism as a clear demonstration of excellence beyond routine policing duties.
“The CP noted that the All Police Games serves as an important platform for promoting physical fitness, teamwork, unity, and mental alertness among officers, all of which contribute significantly to effective service delivery and professional efficiency within the Force.
“He expressed confidence in the preparedness and morale of the Anambra Police contingent, assuring them of the Command’s full support and encouragement as they strive to excel and win medals for the Command and the Nigeria Police Force at large.

“The CP further urged the officers to uphold the core values of discipline, fairness, and sportsmanship throughout the competition, reminding them that they are ambassadors of the Anambra State Police Command and must conduct themselves with dignity and professionalism at all times.
“The Game shall feature officers from various State Commands and Police formations across the country competing in different sporting events, like archery, arm wrestling, basketball, volleyball, football, judo, tug of war, karate, tennis, swimming, chess, boxing, weight lifting and many others, aimed at fostering camaraderie, wellness, and unity within the Nigeria Police Force.
“The Anambra State Police Command wishes its officers success and looks forward to a very commendable outing at the games.”
