Troops of the 3 Division Garrison/Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace have arrested a suspected notorious gunrunner in Plateau State, following a targeted security operation aimed at curbing the proliferation of illegal arms in the area.
The development was disclosed in a press statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation Enduring Peace, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom.

According to the statement, the suspect, identified as Ishaya Musa, was recently intercepted at the Jebbu Bassa Bypass checkpoint in Bassa Local Government Area by troops deployed under the recently launched Operation Peace Shield. The arrest followed credible intelligence suggesting his involvement in the movement of illicit firearms within the region.
He revealed that thorough search conducted by the troops led to the recovery of six fabricated single-barrel rifles, two fabricated revolver rifles, one Dane gun, an expended cartridge, and various other items linked to arms production and trafficking. The military confirmed that both the suspect and the seized weapons are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.

Major Zhakom noted in the statement that the operation further attests to the commitment of the Joint Task Force to safeguarding law-abiding citizens and preventing criminal elements from acquiring weapons used to perpetrate violence across communities in the Joint Operations Area.

He further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and reliable information to security agencies, particularly as the harvest and yuletide seasons approach, periods often exploited by criminal groups for illegal activities.
The military Spokesperson its readiness to intensify ongoing operations to ensure peace, stability, and enhanced security across Plateau State and beyond.
