The Erudite Fitness Club of Nigeria, a Lagos-based fitness and lifestyle-oriented association, has elected a new set of executive members to pilot the affairs of the club for the next tenure.

The official handover and swearing-in ceremony held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the MK Lounge in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, where members gathered to mark the beginning of a new leadership chapter.

At the well-attended event, the club’s founding president, Mr. Peter Igboaka (popularly known as Akajiugo Abagana) — after seven years of dedicated service from 2018 — formally handed over the baton of leadership to the newly elected executives.

Mr. Igboaka, alongside Mr. Nnamdi Nebo (Bamacity), had steered the club since its inception in 2018, nurturing it into a formidable platform for fitness, brotherhood, philanthropy, and business networking.

With the newly-elected 10-man executive, the club is now led by High Chief Prince Ebere Maduewesi, a native of Ezinifite in Aguata LGA of Anambra State, and the CEO of Leo Vile Hotels and Suites, Ago, Lagos, who now assumes the role of the club’s new President.

Other members of the new Executive Committee include:
– Chibuike Udaefi — Vice President
– Nwokwu Ikenna — Secretary
– Kene Odezugo — Financial Secretary
– Melody Adiele — Treasurer
– Ikechukwu Ani — Director of Sports
– Onyeka Chika — Public Relations Officer
– Agbo Martins — Provost
– Okwudili Elegbusi — Welfare Officer
– Fabian Onyekachukwu — Assistant Secretary

In his valedictory address, Mr. Igboaka expressed warm appreciation to the members for their trust and cooperation throughout his leadership. He highlighted the club’s achievements over the years, including the promotion of physical fitness and healthy lifestyles, humanitarian outreach, as well as building strong interpersonal connections and mutual business support among its members. He further urged the new leadership to remain focused, united, and people-driven in building upon the strong foundation already laid.

Mr. Igboaka expressed confidence in the capacity of the new leadership to consolidate on the club’s achievements and take the organisation to even greater heights.

Responding shortly after taking up the mantle of leadership, the new President, High Chief Ebere Maduewesi (Ume Anasoronye I of Ezinifite), pledged his commitment to advance the mission of the club. He promised to sustain the gains of the outgoing leadership and drive new initiatives that will promote greater unity, physical wellness, and social impact among members and the larger society.

Beyond physical fitness and social bonding, Erudite Fitness Club has also made its mark in the area of humanitarian service. Among its notable interventions is the recent re-fencing of the perimeter wall of 24th Road Primary School in Festac, which had collapsed during a heavy downpour. The club has also extended support to orphanages and hospitals by offsetting the medical bills of indigent patients and making generous donations to improve their welfare.

In addition, the club has consistently supported financially distressed members in reviving their businesses and contributed educational materials to schools in underprivileged communities.

The outgoing president, Mr. Igboaka, concluded the event by wishing the new leadership a successful tenure, while urging members to continue supporting the executives in their quest to take the club to greater heights.

With the renewed sense of purpose and leadership, the Erudite Fitness Club is now poised to deepen its relevance, broaden its impact, and remain a force for good in the Lagos fitness, wellness, and social space.
