I Will Build Another Mega Fun City — Soludo, Says Youths Are Hungry, Need to Relax

By Izunna Okafor, Awka

The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has said that plans are already underway for the construction of another mega fun city in Awka, the state capital, as part of his administration’s deliberate efforts to provide more avenues for relaxation, leisure, and recreation for residents, especially the youths.

The Governor stated this while addressing newsmen on Saturday during the official commissioning of the Solution Fun City in Awka, the Anambra State capital, a project he des ascribed as historic and symbolic in his mission to transform the state into a livable and prosperous homeland.

The event, which attracted a mammoth crowd of excited residents, particularly youths, witnessed a festive atmosphere as thousands gathered to witness the grand opening of the leisure facility. It was, indeed, a moment of joy and pride for the people of Anambra as they beheld what many described as a world-class fun city designed to meet international standards. The Solution Fun City features various facilities that cater for all age groups, from toddlers to the elderly, including a country club and other leisure hubs that make it a one-stop destination for fun and relaxation.

It also marked a significant step in the governor’s vision of rebranding Anambra as a preferred destination to live, work, invest, learn, and relax. The Solution Fun City occupies 13 hectares of land in the heart of Awka, setting a new standard for leisure parks in the region.

Speaking with newsmen at the event, Governor Soludo emphasized that beyond infrastructural development, his government is intentional about creating spaces that promote the mental well-being and social balance of residents. According to him, the fun city is a deliberate intervention to offer youths and families a safe, serene, and modern environment where they can unwind, bond, and recharge. He noted that most hotels in Awka were fully booked as visitors from across the country trooped in to witness the historic unveiling.

According to him, the Solution Fun City is not just a leisure facility but a crucial component of the state’s development blueprint aimed at positioning Anambra as a destination of choice.

“The world will be coming, the world will have to come to Anambra. And, but even this, as little as it is, on a 13 hectares of land, in the middle of the city, it’s like no other in the world. It’s the only leisure park in the world with a country club, an international club, I mean, a standard country club, where people of all ages, 100, 150 years, 2 years, 2 months, can come and have fun,” Governor Soludo said.

He added that the Solution Fun City was intentionally designed to shift the leisure and relaxation culture in the state, noting that such facilities are standard in every developed society. The governor revealed that work has commenced on the design of another mega city park in Awka, which he promised would be another first-of-its-kind recreational hub in Nigeria.

“That the world will also come to the city park. And then, of course, what will be the new entertainment city that we’re building. We must be able to have the world come down here. What is standard in every developed society is what we’re bringing here in Anambra,” he assured.

Governor Soludo also drew attention to the sheer number of youths who graced the commissioning, highlighting that over 15,000 young people gathered at the venue, eager for positive engagement.

“They are hungry. They need to let relax. They need to let off,” he said, emphasizing the need for safe, engaging spaces where youths can channel their energies positively.

The Governor further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to holistic development, combining economic growth with social infrastructure that promotes wellness, inclusivity, and community spirit.
