Information reaching our Correspondent Desk have it that the kidnapped Anambra lawmaker, Hon. Justice Azuka, has been killed by his abductors.
The source also has it that the decomposing cọrspe of the lawmaker was dumped at the Second Niger Bridge by his murderers.
Hon. Azuka was the Member representing Onitsha North Constituency 1 in the Anambra State House of Assembly. He was kidnapped on the eve of Christmas, on December 24, 2024 along Ugwunabakpa Road Inland town Onitsha.
Since then, his whereabouts remained unknown, and no one heard from him again, despite searches by security agencies and several calls by his relatives and concerned citizens for his release.
However, barely 44 days after his shocking disappearance without trace, his decomposing body was found at the Second Niger Bridge by combined security team.
According to Sahara Reporters, the combined security team also arrested the suspects behind the abduction and assassination of the lawmaker.
“We have arrested the culprits that kidnapped and killed him. They were arrested very late last (Wednesday) night and they now went and showed the security men where they dumped the corpse,” a security source told newsmen under anonymity.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, was yet to respond to his calls or confirm the incident as at the time of this publication.
It would be recalled that gunmen had similarly kidnapped and murdered a lawmaker in the state in may 2022, when Hon. Dr. Okechukwu Okoye (popularly known as Okey Di Okay) was kidnapped and beheaded by his abductors, who also put his head in a carton and dumped it by the roadside with a handwritten note placed by the side.
