By Izunna Okafor, Awka

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, on Monday, sacrificed his routine sit-at-home monitoring and inspection at various markets across the state, and joined his fellow governors from other Southern states to pay condolence visit to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, over the death of his wife, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno.

It was gathered that the solemn display of grief and solidarity, which was also joined by governors of Ekiti, Ondo, Enugu, and Ebonyi States, was led by the Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum and Ogun State Governor, His Excellency Dapo Abiodun.

According to reports, Governor Abiodun, while speaking on behalf of the delegation, conveyed their collective grief and support, encouraging Governor Eno to find strength during this difficult time, while also reassuring him of their solidarity with him as brothers, partners, and friends.

It was further gathered that the bereaved Governor, Pastor Eno, was visibly moved by the outpouring of support and expressed his gratitude to his colleagues for their compassionate visit and solidarity.

Confirming the visit on his social media handle, Governor Soludo said “Earlier today, in the company of my fellow Southern Governors, I was in Akwa Ibom to offer our deepest sympathies to our brother, Governor Umo Eno. We share in his grief over the passing of his cherished wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno. May her soul rest in peace!”

It would be recalled that Governor Soludo had recently begun embarking on inspection of Monday sit-at-home in various markets across Anambra state, as part of his strategic step towards ending the observance that has gradually become a tradition in different parts of the southeast, given its perceived negative impacts in both the economic and social lives of the State.
