The Anambra State Police Command has launched investigation into the trending video and voice note from a self-acclaimed member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) threatening violence in the State.
The State Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu announced this in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday, in reaction to the viral video and audio clips, which started trending over the week.
While emphasizing that the Command is not taking those clips for granted; the Police Spokesman further reassured the Police commitment to its primary responsibility of maintaining law and order. He also stressed that the Command shall live up to its mandate of ensuring that no person or group of persons is allowed to infringe on the fundamental human rights of others.
He recalled that the Command had, in the past, arrested some persons involved in such acts of making videos and voice notes to cause tension and panic to distract the peace of Ndi Anambra.
“Given the above, Police and Other Security Forces have intensified patrols, and improved security dominance and surveillance to enforce the law, maintain public order, public safety and other support services in the State,” he said.
Concluding, the Police Image Maker said: “In the event of any request for security service, members of the public are advised to call the following phone numbers: the Command Control Room Number at 07039194332 or the Public Relations Officer PRO at 08039334002.
