The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has commended officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force in the state, alongside other sister security agencies, for what he described as their dedication, professionalism and courage during the just-concluded Yuletide security operations across the state.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued on Monday, January 5, by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, and made available to journalists in Awka.
According to the statement, CP Orutugu noted that the high level of synergy and coordination between the Police Command, sister security agencies and other security stakeholders played a critical role in ensuring the largely peaceful and incident-free festive celebrations witnessed across Anambra State.
The Commissioner of Police also extended appreciation to Ndi Anambra for their cooperation, vigilance and continued support to security agencies during the festive period, stressing that effective community partnership remains a cornerstone of successful policing.
He observed that the willingness of residents to share timely information and comply with lawful security measures significantly contributed to the relative safety recorded during the Yuletide, despite increased human and vehicular movements across the state.
Looking ahead to the year 2026, CP Orutugu, through the statement, called on residents to deepen their cooperation with security agencies by providing timely, credible and actionable information capable of preventing crime and enhancing rapid response.
He further reassured the public that the Anambra State Police Command remains committed to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations and the continuous protection of lives and property across the state.
The statement further emphasized that the Command would continue to review and strengthen its operational strategies, while sustaining collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders to consolidate the gains recorded and improve public safety in the new year.
CP Orutugu reaffirmed that the Command remains steadfast in its resolve to ensure that Anambra State remains safe, secure and conducive for social and economic activities in 2026 and beyond.
