We’ve Never Gone on Strike Since Inception — Federal Cooperative College Oji River Provost, Says School Fees Below N50,000

In contrast to exorbitant fees occasioned by hike in tuition fees coupled with incessant strike actions in public tertiary institutions, the Federal Cooperative College Oji River Enugu State has said that her tuition fee is less than N50,000 per academic session.

The Provost of the College, Dr. Owan Obodoagu Tonica, who spoke through the Admissions Officer, Hon. Obinna Ezeano stated that apart from the very affordable school fees of the College, academic programmes have never been altered or interrupted by strike actions since the institution began operation in 1976.

The Provost stated that the Federal Cooperative College Oji River has a tradition of maintaining academic timetables such that students of the College graduate in record time without any interferences by industrial disputes.

Owan said that at the moment, the Federal Cooperative College Oji River has seven fully accredited academic programmes namely Cooperative Economics & Management, Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science, Public Administration, Accountancy and Marketing, adding that the institution equally boast of quality teaching staff handling the programmes.

He also disclosed that the 2023/2024 admissions in the College revealed a geometrical increase in student population as more Nigerians choose Federal Cooperative College Oji River as first choice for their academic pursuits.

The Provost who reiterated that tuition fee is never an issue at Federal Cooperative College Oji River as academic programmes are highly subsidised to enable the poorest of the poor access quality and qualitative education, said Nigerians equally stand a better chance of learning in a very conducive and serene environment where the overall objective is the production of graduates with comparative advantage over their counterparts from other schools across the country.

According to him, the sale of admission forms have increased tremendously and that people are indicating interest all over the country to school at Federal Cooperative College Oji River.

Corroborating what the Provost said about the tuition fee, two HND final year students who have paid their school fees, Godswill Chidozie Nwaigwe and Jeremiah Oyina, said all the money they paid were not up to N50,000 even as they encouraged their fellow youths to subscribe to Federal Cooperative College Oji River because the school is very affordable and never goes on strike like other schools across Nigeria.
