The Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has removed an accident-damaged van that was dangerously abandoned along the newly dualised Agulu–Ekwulobia Road, following a timely alert by a concerned citizen, Osita Obi.
According to a report issued by the Agency on Monday, January 19, and made available to newsmen by its MD/CEO, Engr. Okonkwo Emeka-Konti (Konti Komplete), the abandoned vehicle was spotted along the Agulu–Ekwulobia motorway recently constructed by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR.

ARTMA noted that the damaged van was critically positioned near a bend, posing a serious threat to unsuspecting motorists and creating the risk of secondary accidents, which are often more fatal.
The report further stated that upon receiving the information, officers of the Agency promptly mobilised to the scene to avert any possible tragedy. The vehicle, it was gathered, was successfully towed from the roadway and conveyed to the Agency’s headquarters in Awka, restoring safety and ensuring the free flow of traffic along the every-busy road.

ARTMA, in the report, further appreciated the vigilance and civic responsibility of the concerned citizen whose prompt action helped draw their attention to the situation and prevent possible loss of lives and property. The Agency also encouraged other members of the public to always report traffic-related situations and emergencies within their areas.

ARTMA also reaffirmed its commitment to restoring complete sanity on Anambra roads, stressing that public cooperation remains critical to achieving safer highways across the state.
The Agency further reminded motorists and road users that ARTMA’s helpline (08144228836) is available and remains open for reporting obstructions, accidents, and other traffic emergencies, as the it sustains its state-wide proactive traffic management operations.
