Police Receive New APC in Anambra, Reassure Commitment to Delivering on Its Mandate

The Anambra State Police Command has taken delivery of a brand-new Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), in what marks a significant step toward strengthening the state’s internal security framework.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, who received the tactical vehicle on behalf of the Command at the State Police Headquarters in Awka, described the development as timely and impactful, especially in the face of emerging security threats across parts of the state. He further noted that the vehicle would bolster police operations, provide enhanced mobility for personnel, and improve the Command’s readiness to respond to distress situations.

According to a press release issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra, SP Tochukwu Ikenga; the CP, while inspecting the vehicle, conveyed deep appreciation to the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, for his continued commitment to improving operational logistics, officers’ welfare, and the morale of personnel nationwide.

The CP noted that the APC would play a crucial role in reinforcing patrol operations and tactical deployments across the state, particularly in areas vulnerable to criminal infiltration and insurgent threats. He emphasized that the new asset reflects the Inspector-General’s proactive leadership and the growing synergy between the Force Headquarters and state commands.

The Command reiterated its resolve to continue protecting lives and property across the state, even as it called on residents to continue partnering with the police and other security agencies through timely and useful information that would help in building a safer Anambra.

The delivery of the Armoured Personnel Carrier is coming at a time the state is making bold moves toward fortifying its security architecture, and adds to the arsenal of tools available to the Command in its fight against crime and insecurity.
