Pupils and staff of Ebenator Central School in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State were on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, filled with joy and gratitude as a distinguished philanthropist and community leader, Chief Ambassador Chinonso Nwanze, officially handed over newly renovated toilet facilities and a complete set of brand-new parade band set to the school.

The remarkable gesture, carried out on behalf of his father, Ide Nze Eugene Nwanze, who is one of the proud old boys of the school, marked yet another significant contribution to the development of education and youth empowerment in Ebenator community.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Nwanze explained that the gesture was inspired by his family’s desire to give back to society and to support the educational growth of children in the community. He emphasized that pupils in rural areas deserve the same quality of environment, encouragement, and opportunities enjoyed by their counterparts in the cities.

According to him, providing a conducive learning atmosphere is crucial to the physical, moral, and academic development of schoolchildren. He expressed optimism that the new facilities and equipment would not only improve hygiene and discipline among pupils but also promote talent, teamwork, and school spirit.

Chief Nwanze emphasized that rural schools should not be left behind when it comes to development and facility upgrading, as every child, regardless of where they are born, deserves an enabling environment to learn, play, and grow. By renovating the facilities and donating the band set, he said the goal, among others, was primarily to make the children proud of their school and to remind them that they are seen, valued, and supported.

Reacting to the development on behalf of the community leadership, the President-General of Ebenator Development Union (EDU), Ambassador Chigozie Henry Anadi, commended Chief Ambassador Nwanze and his family for their generosity and community spirit. He noted that the intervention represents a great boost to the school’s learning environment and underlines the importance of individual contributions to community development.

“What Chief Nwanze has done today is a perfect example of community partnership in action. The EDU sincerely appreciates this noble gesture, which will go a long way in enhancing both hygiene and extracurricular engagement among our children,” Amb. Anadi stated.

He further called on other well-meaning sons and daughters of Ebenator to take a cue from Chief Nwanze and emulate such acts of philanthropy, stressing that the growth of the community depends on collective effort and shared responsibility.

Earlier speaking, the Deputy Mayor of Nnewi South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Nneka Ireka, described the donation as a noble and heartwarming gesture worthy of emulation. She commended Chief Ambassador Nwanze and his family for their exemplary act of giving back to society, which, she said, perfectly aligns with the state government’s vision of promoting quality education and community-driven development.

She noted that such private interventions play a vital role in complementing government’s efforts toward improving the standard of education and learning conditions in rural areas.

According to her, education remains the most powerful investment in the future of any society, and the contributions of individuals like Chief Nwanze demonstrate the power of partnership in achieving sustainable progress. She urged parents, teachers, and pupils of the school to ensure the proper use and maintenance of the new facilities, adding that such infrastructure should serve as a motivation for the pupils to study harder and take pride in their school.

Hon. Ireka further appealed to other privileged individuals and corporate organizations to emulate Chief Nwanze’s example by supporting schools and community projects within their areas, noting that when communities rise together to invest in education, the benefits extend to generations yet unborn.

The highlights of the event included the unveiling of the renovated toilet facilities and the presentation of the new parade band set, all presented in the presence of excited pupils, teachers, and community leaders.

Among other dignitaries present at the event were the Vice President of Ebenator Development Union (E.D.U.) and APGA Chairman in Ebenator, Hon. Amaechi Anyika; parents of the benefactor, Ide Nze and Lolo Eugene Nwanze; Education Supervisor in Nnewi South, Hon. Elochukwu Udoye; Manager of the School, Rev. Fr.
