The the traditional ruler of Amichi and the entire Obi Amichi Cabinet have expressed sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the families and individuals affected by the tragic accident that occurred late Friday night in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The horrible incident, which threw the entire Amichi Community into mourning, reportedly claimed several precious lives while leaving many others badly injured.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Secretary of the Obi Amichi Cabinet, Sir Chike Ezeani, Esq. KSJI, the traditional institution led by His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Ofobuike Alphonsus Ezeoke (Igwe Amichi), described the event as a heartbreaking loss that has dealt a painful blow to the community.
According to the Cabinet, the tragic development has left not only families but the entire town in great shock and grief, as the reality of the lives lost continues to sink in.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this devastating incident. May God, in His infinite mercy, grant them the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement partly read, while also offering prayers for the repose of the departed souls.
The Cabinet further assured those who sustained injuries in the incident of their continuous thoughts and prayers, expressing hope for their swift and total recovery. It also called for calm and peace across the town as residents struggle to come to terms with the tragedy.
“We urge everyone to maintain order,” the statement continued, adding that “relevant government authorities have been duly contacted to investigate the cause of the accident and to implement necessary measures to prevent future occurrences.”
While the details surrounding the cause of the fatal accident are yet to be made public, sources within the community hint that the impact of the incident was grave enough to warrant urgent action and support from emergency and state authorities.
The Obi Amichi Cabinet, in its concluding note, prayed for peace to reign in Amichi and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the families and individuals affected during this trying time.
“Long live Amichi Community. Long live the Obi Amichi Cabinet. Long live Igwe Eneke Amichi,” the Cabinet concluded.
