In a renewed push to consolidate security operations and deepen stakeholder engagement in Anambra State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, has advanced his strategic outreach with a high-level visit to prominent Anambra-born philanthropist and security supporter, High Chief Dr. Christopher Ndubuisi (Ikenga Umuawulu), at his Abuja office.
According to a press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Tuesday visit, which came shortly after the Commissioner was honoured with the prestigious “Best Crime Fighter – Man of the Year 2025” award by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory Council, Abuja, forms part of CP Orutugu’s broader security advocacy campaign, which seeks to bridge the gap between law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders within and outside the State.
According to him, the Commissioner, during the visit, emphasized the urgent need for robust synergy between the Police, traditional institutions, and well-meaning individuals, especially in the areas of intelligence gathering, community sensitization, logistics support, and grassroots engagement.
“Security is a shared responsibility,” CP Orutugu reiterated during the meeting, noting that the fight against crime and the sustenance of peace cannot be left for security agencies alone. He commended High Chief Ndubuisi for his consistent support and encouraged more influential citizens to emulate such commitment to a safer Anambra.
Responding, High Chief Christopher Ndubuisi hailed the CP’s proactive leadership style, describing it as commendable and transformative. He particularly praised the CP’s results-driven approach and visible reforms in policing across the state. He pledged continued moral and material support to the Police and other security operatives, acknowledging the enormous sacrifices they make daily in ensuring the safety of lives and property.
The Police Command, in the same vein, reaffirmed its commitment to building stronger community-based partnerships and improving its operational efficiency through continuous engagement with patriotic stakeholders. Citizens were also encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to aid the police in their proactive strategies.
The NUJ FCT award, presented to CP Orutugu earlier in the day, was in recognition of his sterling achievements in intelligence-led policing, community safety, and significant reduction in violent crimes in Anambra State. Observers say this latest outreach signals a more inclusive and sustainable approach to security management under his watch.
The Police Command, through the state PPRO, further reassured the public of its readiness to sustain the momentum in securing all parts of the state, calling on residents to complement the efforts with trust, support, and useful information.
