The Anambra State Government said it’s set and ready to dazzle residents and visitors with the much-anticipated Ọnwa Dezemba 2025 celebration, which officially kicked off on December 18, 2025, at the Awka City Stadium with the vibrant the Ọnwa Dezemba City Block event, focused on Gen Z entertainment.
The State Deputy Governor of the State and Chairman of the Ọnwa Dezemba Planning Committee, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim reaffirmed this on Friday when he visited the proposed venue of the Christmas Carol/Cantata at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, to inspect the progress of the ongoing preparations for the mega event scheduled for Saturday, December 20, starting at 5:00 PM.
Recall that as part of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Ọnwa Dezemba festival is slated to continue through to January 4, 2026, offering a wide array of cultural, social, and entertainment activities designed to promote Anambra’s tourism, showcase its rich heritage, and provide exceptional experiences for all and sundry.
The state’s preparedness for the season-long events was further ratified on Friday, December 19, when the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Ibezim,
Dr. Ibezim expressed excitement about the event and the level of preparation so far, calling it a “soul-lifting experience” that promises to be truly exceptional.
The Christmas Carol on December 20 is one of the highlights of the Ọnwa Dezemba 2025 celebrations, with music, performances, and a cantata designed to immerse attendees in the festive spirit. The celebrations, it was gathered, have been carefully curated to offer something for every age group and interest, with a diverse schedule of events catering to families, young people, and all residents of Anambra.

The Ọnwa Dezemba series of events reflects the Anambra State Government’s commitment to cultural celebration, tourism, and fostering community pride through entertainment.
Speaking during the inspection visit on Friday, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Ibezim emphasized that the Festival is designed not only for fun but also to encourage unity and strengthen the social fabric of Anambra.
