Anambra 2025: Ikukuoma is Our Project, Let’s Make It Happen — Orjika Charges Ndi Nnewi South at APC ‘Thank You’ Tour

By Izunna Okafor, Awka

It was a moment of euphoria, panegyrics, and political reawakening at Ukpor Central School field in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, MFR, alongside his running mate, Sen. Dr. Uche Ekwunife, Ph.D, visited the council area as part of their statewide “Thank You” tour.

The tour, which drew a massive crowd of party faithful, supporters, stakeholders, traditional rulers and admirers, was not only a homecoming for the APC governorship candidate, who hails from the local government, but also an electrifying affirmation of the people’s resolve to take ownership of what many described as a divine political project. It also formed part of the party’s strategic grassroots engagements ahead of the November 8 governorship in the state.

Addressing the mammoth crowd at the event, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Nnewi South, Mazi Chidi Orjika, expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude to the people for the thunderous reception and show of solidarity towards their son and candidate.

Describing the moment as historic, Orjika lauded the people of Anambra for recognizing the leadership capacity of Ukachukwu and embracing a visionary candidate whose pedigree, performance, and personality speak volumes.

“This is our moment,” he declared, adding that Nnewi South has been blessed with the rare privilege of producing a gubernatorial candidate of a major political party — a man whose reputation for excellence, compassion, and leadership is known beyond our state.

In his words, “Nnewi South, the cradle of greatness, had produced a leader who embodied the values, wisdom, and vision that our state needed. We rose to the challenge, and our people showed unwavering support for our candidate.”

Continuing, he said “The people of Anambra have spoken, and they have spoken wisely. Our job now is to own this project, drive it with every breath in us, and ensure that come November 8, our son, Ikukuoma, becomes the next Governor of Anambra State,” he charged.

Addressing Ndi Anambra, Orjika reminded the people that Ukachukwu’s emergence as APC flagbearer was not a coincidence but a divine arrangement to usher in a new dawn of leadership, adding that his victory at the primary was a signal that the state is ready to embrace a new era of purposeful and people-focused leadership, rooted in wisdom, integrity, and service. He described Ukachukwu and Ekwunife as a perfect blend of experience, empathy, and energy, and called on every well-meaning citizen of Anambra to rally behind them for a government that would truly serve the people.

“With Ikukuoma and Iyom Ekwunife, Anambra shall witness a leadership that prioritizes security, education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, women inclusion, and sustainable development,” he affirmed.

Further describing their candidacy as a symbol of gender balance, intellectual brilliance, and balanced representation, he expressed confidence that, with Ikukuoma at the helm and Senator Ekwunife by his side, “Anambra shall rise, and Ndị Anambra shall have a government that listens, a government that delivers, and a government that puts the people first.”

The Nnewi South APC Chairman equally appreciated all party executives from ward to LGA level, stakeholders, grassroots mobilizers, and the various support groups whose tireless work ensured the success of the event.

He called on all eligible voters across the 21 local government areas of the state to get their PVCs ready and vote massively for the APC in the upcoming election.

“As we march forward, let us do so with unity of purpose, with commitment in our hearts and with a common resolve to take Anambra to greater heights. With APC, the wind of progress shall blow across all towns and villages in our beloved state,” he concluded.

The event, which was laced with songs of victory, chants of support, and cultural displays, also attracted traditional rulers from Nnewi South, as well as other high-profile personalities, including the APC flagbearer for the August 16 Anambra South senatorial by-election, Hon. Azuka Okwuosa.
