Soludo Donates Additional Patrol Vehicles to Police in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has received thirty Toyota Hilux patrol vehicles from the Anambra State Government, in a move aimed at strengthening security operations and enhancing public safety across the State.

According to a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the presentation took place on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Old Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, and was personally made by the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

The statement disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD, during the event, formally presented twenty-eight Anambra indigenes who recently passed out as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to the Governor. The officers were said to have successfully completed their training at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, and were subsequently commissioned into the officers’ cadre of the Nigeria Police Force before being posted to Anambra State.

CP Orutugu, as quoted in the statement, noted that the addition of the thirty patrol vehicles, alongside the deployment of the newly commissioned officers, would significantly boost Police visibility, response time and overall operational efficiency across the State. He described the development as a strategic step towards strengthening crime prevention, patrol coverage and rapid response to security challenges.

While receiving the newly commissioned officers, Governor Soludo charged them to uphold the core values of Anambra State, urging them to reflect discipline, professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties. The Governor, according to the Police spokesman, encouraged the officers to embody the State’s slogan of being “a Light to the Nation” through exemplary conduct and commitment to service.

Similarly, while handing over the operational patrol vehicles to the Police Command, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that sustained collaboration with security agencies remains key to maintaining peace, safety and stability across Anambra State.

The press statement further revealed that dignitaries present at the event included the Secretary to the State Government, the Principal Secretary to the Governor, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, senior officers of the Anambra State Police Command, as well as other relevant stakeholders.

The Anambra State Police Command, through the statement signed by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reiterated its appreciation to the State Government for the continuous support and assured Ndi Anambra of the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property across the State.
