A southeast group, South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA) has said that the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 is already a done deal, given the widespread admiration and acceptance his government continues to enjoy across the country, including the Southeast region.
The National Coordinator of SERHA, Ambassador Belusochukwu Enwere, made this assertion over the weekend in Awka, the Anambra State capital, during the official inauguration of the Anambra State Chapter of the group, alongside the empowerment of its members.
The well-attended event, themed “Empowering the Grassroots”, also featured the presentation of a shuttle bus to the State Coordinator of the group by the National Coordinator, as well as various empowerment packages distributed to members. Aside the state members, the event also attracted some personalities from different parts of the southeast region, including Dr. Ugochukwu Udunze of the Public Administration Department, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
In his keynote address, the National Coordinator, Ambassador Enwere hailed Anambra State’s legacy of outstanding leadership, referencing icons such as Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Odimegwu Ojukwu, Sen. Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, Prof. Dora Akunyili, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, among others, whose democratic footprints still ring bell in Nigeria’s political history.
He reaffirmed that SERHA was primarily founded to consolidate grassroots mobilization and ensure that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is amplified and entrenched in the Southeast. While hailing the President, he particularly lauded the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), initiated under the Tinubu’s government, describing it as one of the demonstrations of the President’s love for the region and his commitment to its socio-economic advancement.
According to him, the President’s ongoing efforts, though yet incomplete, reflect a sincere dedication to reposition Nigeria for greatness — a development, he argued, that should earn him the support of all well-meaning Southeasterners in his 2027 re-election bid.
Further speaking in an interview with newsmen, Ambassador Enwere further highlighted the empowerment packages distributed to the members during the event, which included motorcycles, sewing machines, grinding machines, hairdressing kits, bags of rice, and cash support ranging from N20,000 to N200,000 distributed to hundreds of members and indigent families across the state.
Specifically, he disclosed that N200,000 was given to 100 beneficiaries, N100,000 to 200 people, N50,000 to 300 people, and N20,000 to 500 people.
Ambassador Enwere emphasized that the gathering was historic and strategic, as the coordinators and secretaries of the 21 local government areas and 326 wards of Anambra State were carefully chosen and assembled. According to him, over 1,000 persons were empowered that day, all of whom will now become grassroots ambassadors of the Tinubu administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He dismissed the speculation that President Tinubu is not marketable in the Southeast, describing such claims as false and baseless. Citing massive organic support witnessed in states like Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, and Anambra where the group has so far been inaugurated, he stressed that the Southeast has not only embraced Tinubu’s vision but is also poised to rally behind his re-election in 2027.
Enwere also pointed to Tinubu’s intervention in establishing the SEDC, approving N150 billion investment funds for Southeast businesses, and granting a state burial for the late former President Muhammadu Buhari as acts that show his commitment to the Southeast and the nation at large. He therefore called on all Nigerians, and south-easterners in particular, beyond political affiliations, to reciprocate the President’s goodwill by ensuring his return to office in 2027.
Earlier in his welcome address, the State Coordinator of SERHA, Comrade Alphonsu Chukwudum Muonagolu, reiterated the group’s commitment to championing Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in Anambra. While lauding the President for his developmental strides and his passion for grassroots empowerment, he further thanked the President for his vision-driven leadership and developmental policies, including the eight priority areas of his Renewed Hope Agenda — food security, poverty eradication, economic growth, job creation, access to capital, inclusivity, rule of law, and anti-corruption.
Comrade Muonagolu also referenced initiatives like the Youth Empowerment through Digital Innovation (YEDI), SME Credit Guarantee Scheme, agricultural investments, infrastructural development, and the N47.9 trillion 2025 Budget aimed at “Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity.” He encouraged Ndi Anambra and Nigerians at large to endure the temporary pains of ongoing reforms and look forward to their long-term benefits.
He further noted that, with full support, the Anambra SERHA team would not only intensify community sensitization through door-to-door campaigns across the state but also align with local leaders, market women, youth groups, and various stakeholders to propagate the vision of Renewed Hope and ensure the President’s second term success.
Also speaking, the National Secretary of the group, Prof. Frank Anaeto, clarified that SERHA is neither a political party nor an appendage of any political juggernaut, but a national movement and pressure group dedicated to securing Tinubu’s second term. He described the group as an all-inclusive platform where everyone, regardless of political affiliation, family background, or social status, can participate, contribute, and benefit.
Anaeto, a professor of Agricultural Extension from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, urged SERHA members to actively recruit non-partisans and others into the movement, stressing that the ultimate goal is to sustain the positive trajectory of the Tinubu administration through continuity. He called on members to engage their communities respectfully, avoid rancour, envy, and gossip, and maintain unity of purpose.
On his own part, the Deputy National Coordinator 1, Mr. Chukwudi Anyanwuocha, recounted some of the President’s landmark achievements in the Southeast, including the recent inauguration of the South-East Investment Company (SEIC) under the SEDC, with over N150 billion earmarked for regional investments.
He cited the now-accessible student loan scheme (NELFUND) and other social interventions, noting that these and many other efforts debunk the narrative that Tinubu’s government neglects the Southeast. He therefore urged members of SERHA and all Southeasterners to mobilize massively for the President’s re-election, as continuity remains key to sustaining the developmental gains already being recorded.
The official inauguration of the Anambra SERHA team by the National Coordinator, hand-over of a shuttle bus to the State Coordinator, and presentation of various empowerment packages to the beneficiaries, formed the high points of the event.
Some of the empowerment beneficiaries included Orji Chioma from Ufuma who received a sewing machine; Emmanuel Uzochukwu from Abacha, Idemili North, who got a motorcycle alongside two other persons; Ude Favour who received N200,000; Chikezie Juliet Pauline who got N100,000; Muonagolu Christiana Chika who got a grinding machine; Stella Jelly who received a sewing machine; among others.
All the nursing mothers present at the event also received N50,000 each, while over a hundred bags of rice were also distributed to the participants, who, in response, all appreciated the organizers and pledge worker assiduously to ensure that President Tinubu gets re-elected in 2027.
