Actress and entrepreneur Iyabo Ojo has reacted to a devastating fire that engulfed part of her office complex in Lagos on the evening of Tuesday, July 8, 2025, around 7 p.m, described it as a test from the devil.
Taking to Instagram, she shared the disturbing experience and expressed gratitude for the swift response that prevented loss of life.
“My office building caught fire. Thank you to the Nigerian Fire Service and my staff for salvaging what was left. Thankfully, no lives were lost. The devil tested us today, but God said no,” Ojo stated, her words reflecting both relief and faith. She added with resolute optimism, “With God on my side, we will bounce back bigger and better.”
Videos currently trending on social media captured the intensity of the blaze and the heroic efforts of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service personnel. One of the videos shows rain-soaked ground still dotted with hoses and emergency responders working tirelessly to extinguish lingering flames.
The video also captures burnt walls and charred office furnishings, signifying the extent of the damage. Although, there was no loss of life, as all the occupants and staff reportedly escaped unharmed.
The incident which struck fear into Ojo’s supporters and colleagues alike, is coming just two months after her daughter Priscilla Ojo’s glamorous wedding to renowned Tanzanian singer Juma Jux. In her message, however, she emphasized that the spiritual and physical trial had only made them stronger.
While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, celebration quickly turned into solidarity, as fans and fellow entertainers rallied online, sending prayers and support. Many also highlighted her resilience as an example of how faith and fortitude can guide one through darkness.
