The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has announced the names of the winners of the just-concluded local government chairmanship elections in the 21 local government areas of the State.
The ANSIEC Chairperson, Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe, announced this during a press briefing on Monday, September 30, at the Commission’s Headquarters in Awka, the state capital.
Flanked by other members of the ANSIEC Board: Sir Chinedu Anthony, Mrs. Bernardine Obande FCA, Barr. Osita Cyril Igbokwe, Helen Ifeyinwa Umeh, and Mr. John Emeka Okeke; the ANSIEC Chairperson, Magistrate Osakwe, during the press briefing, also announced the scores and number of votes polled by the various political parties in the September 28 election.
Having earlier announced the general results of the elections on Sunday; the electoral umpire, during the Monday press briefing, specifically announced only the chairmanship election results and the names of the winners, noting that those of the councilors had already been announced at the various local government headquarters.
She further described the election as the freest, fairest and most credible ever in the history of the State.
